What can a Personal Trainer do for me?
There are many reasons why people hire a Personal Trainer. Trainers are excellent for teaching safe workout techniques, providing motivation, giving individualized instruction, bolstering confidence, suggesting new effective workouts, providing sport-specific training, and teaching new skills. You may want a trainer to motivate and push you to the point where you begin to see lasting results and to give you ongoing encouragement and support so you keep it up!

Why hire a Personal Trainer when I can go to the gym or stream a workout program?
Personal Trainers must be able to engage with all sorts of personalities. Knowing how to keep someone motivated and how to keep a connection are skills humans have learned and evolved over hundreds of thousands of years. A robot can’t figure out whether you can do one more push-up, or how to motivate you to actually do it. Most important: just because someone shows up for 60 minutes doesn’t mean they actually completed a 60-minute workout. The gym and online workouts allow you to take extra, extended breaks, quit early, and possibly do the routines incorrectly. Having a Personal Trainer focus on you one-on-one is something that just can’t be beat. The extra focus and coaching means faster, better, and longer lasting results.

What kind of workouts can I expect?
Workout programs are tailored to your fitness history and the results you’re looking for. No two clients do the exact same routines. The focus is on human biomechanics by emphasizing triplanar exercises, challenging muscles and joints on all three planes of motion. As you discuss your goals with the Personal Trainer the plan of attack will become fine-tuned, bringing you those results you’ve been dreaming of.

Are you available outside of our sessions?
I’m open to calls, texts, and e-mails 24/7, and always aim to respond within two hours. If you have questions or concerns, want to brag, or need to hear something motivational, please feel free to reach out to me. We meet in person to workout but not all questions can always be answered during the session. Do not feel obligated to save questions or concerns for when we meet in person to workout.

What type of licensing or certification do Personal Trainers have?
There is no license for being a Personal Trainer, but rather forms of certification. Being licensed to practice something is for legal matters, while being certified is for the public’s safety. For a Personal Trainer to carry the title Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) they must have at least one nationally recognized and independently accredited Personal Trainer certification, such as from ACSM, ACE, NASM, or NSCA. All of these certifying bodies require continuing education in order to maintain certifications.

What happens at the free consultation?
The purpose of this consultation is to assess what fitness information is most needed and desired, and to provide information on how to get started or continue making progress towards desirable fitness. The visit includes review of your health history, as well as assessing your current fitness level, needs and goals. This consultation allows you to interview me as a potential Personal Trainer, and vice versa as a potential client.

What is a medical release and when is it necessary? Do I need to meet with a physician before I consider working out with a Personal Trainer?
A medical release consists of a note from a healthcare provider stating any necessary exercise restrictions and/or provisions, or that states that the client has been cleared to exercise with no restrictions. Clients with a known medical condition (i.e., cardiovascular, metabolic, pulmonary, orthopedic, etc.) will be required to obtain medical clearance from a healthcare provider before they can workout with a trainer. Clients with symptoms suggestive of a clinical condition, or with multiple risk factors, may be required to get clearance as well. A Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) is completed during the consultation to see if the client is clear to workout without a physician’s medical release.

What if I am completely out of shape?
The Personal Trainer works with each client based on the current fitness level of the individual. The advice given is individually tailored to help the client make steady progress towards achieving a higher level of fitness and well-being. The goal is to offer you valuable and empowering fitness advice, teach you how to safely and effectively choose and use equipment, and to strategize with you on how to build a better fitness routine for you. 

How often should I work with a Personal Trainer?
Sessions are offered individually or in monthly packages. The client should look to meet one to three times a week with the Personal Trainer to effectively increase their results and maintain their momentum. Whether it’s once a month or three times a week, the Personal Trainer will cater to your fitness level and always push you towards those goals.
